FUNDING

Although voluntary sea rescuers do not receive any compensation for their work, financial resources are required for maintenance and improvement of the rescue equipment and training of the crews.

Finland’s Slot Machine Association funds the main part of the activity of the Finnish Lifeboat Institution. Regular funding also comes from the Finnish Maritime Administration through the Seamen's welfare and rescue levy system, and from the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation. Voluntary contributions collected by shipbrokers also constitute significant support.

In addition, several communities and private persons make donations to support sea rescue activities.

In this vital work we always need additional support and if you would like to consider sponsorship or cooperation possibilities with us, our Managing Director, Kyösti Vesterinen will be pleased to hear from you. You can contact him by phone at +358 9 680 30 111.

In 2005 the Finnish Lifeboat Institution’s budget was 3,1 M EUR. The budgets of the member associations are approximately 500 000 EUR altogether.
