Who are we

The Finnish Lifeboat Institution is the national umbrella organisation for volunteer maritime rescue associations in Finland. The main purpose of the Finnish Lifeboat Institution is to assist people in distress along the coast and on inland waters. The Institution also promotes boating safety and good seafaring practice in general.

Porkkala Lifeboat Association is a member of  the Finnish Lifeboat Institution. This station was established in 1969. Our area of operation is west from Helsinki. Our station is situated at the Porkkala peninsula, about 17 Nm southwest from Helsinki.

Rescuing human lives is the most important task of the Porkkala Lifeboat Association (PLBA).  Our lifeboats co-operate with the Coast Guard and Emergency Responce Center Agency. Luckily sailors seldom get into life threatening danger, minor damages happen more often..
